Definition of jihad in Arabic
Effort: hardship, the Messenger of God, may God’s prayers and peace be upon him, was seek refuge from hardship of afflication.
Chest strives, if he exaggerates the effort, and from his effort is the disease
And overpower him: if hardship hits him
Effort: every activity exerted by a conscious being, physically or mentally, which is often aimed at an end.
Jihad: exaggeration and emptiness of what is within one’s capacity and energy in terms of saying or doing

The jihad of those who deserve their jihad
Fighting the infidel enemy
It is necessary toprotect Muslims from their evil, and necessary to spread Islam among them, and they have a choice in order between Islam, paying tribute, or fighting
Allah says
{قَاتِلُواالَّذِينَ لَا يُؤْمِنُونَ بِاللَّهِ وَلَا بِالْيَوْمِ الْآخِرِ وَلَا يُحَرِّمُونَ ما حرَّمَ اللَّهُ وَرَسُولُهُ وَلَا يَدِينُونَ دِينَ الْحَقِّ مِنَ الَّذِينَ
أُوتُوا الْكِتَابَ حَتَّى يُعْطُوا الْجِزْيَةَ عَنْ يَدٍ وَهُمْ صَاغِرُون [29][التوبة 29]
{Fight those who do not believe in God nor inthe Last Day, and they do not forbid what God and His Messenger has forbidden, and they do not follow the religion of truth from those who have been given the book, Until they pay the jizyah out of hand while they are humbled [29]

And in the Hadith
On the authority of Buraydah, may God be pleased with him, who said:
The Messenger of God, may God’s prayers and peace be upon him, if he commanded a commander over an army or a company, he would advise him, alone, to pious God, And those of the Muslims who are with him with good. Then he said: “Invade in the name of God, for the sake of God, Fight those who disbelieve in God, invade and do not be excessive, do not deceive, do not mutilate corpses, and do not kill a newborn, and when you meet your enemy among the polytheists, call them to three attributes: whichever of them did not answer you, then accept from them and refrain from them, then invite them to Islam, and if they respond to you, accept from them, stop from them, Then invite them to move from their home to the home of the immigrants, And tell them that if they do that, they will have what the Muhajirun have, And they shall bear the same as the immigrants, if they refuse to move from it, So tell them that they will be like the bedouins of the Muslims, and the judgment of God will be upon them, which is applied to the believers, and they have nothing in the spoils, Unless they fight with the Muslims, if they refuse, ask them for the jizyah, If they respond to you, then accept from them and refrain from them, and if they refuse, then seek the help of God and fight them.” Directed by Muslim.
The controls of fighting infidels and idolaters
Jihad against the infidels by hand is a specific duty in four cases
1- If a Muslim attends jihad.
2- If the enemy came and besieged the country.
3- If the imam mobilizes the subjects, they must mobilize.
4- If he needs that person and no one else can fill it, not him.

The first
To be a fighter
Meaning to go in order to come more powerfully.
the second
to be biased into a category
So that it is mentioned to him that a group of Muslims from the other side is about to be defeated, so he goes in order to take sides with it in order to strengthen it, In this case, it is stipulated that he should not fear for the group in which he is, If there is fear for the class he is in, then it is not permissible for him to go to the other group, In this case, it is an individual obligation upon him that he cannot abandon.
Third
If his country is surrounded by the enemy
He must fight in defense of the country, and this is similar to those who attended the battle; because if the enemy besieges the country, it must be defended; For the enemy will prevent leaving this country, and entering it, and what comes to them of livelihood, and other things that are known, in this case the people of the country must fight in defense of their country.
Fourth
if the imam said, go forth
The imam is the supreme guardian of the state, and it is not required that he be the imam of the Muslims; because the general Imamate became extinct from lengthy times, and the Prophet, may God’s prayers and peace be upon him, said: “Listen and obey even if an Abyssinian slave leder uopn you.” If a person is conspired in a direction, he will be in the status of the general imam, and his words became enforceable, and his commands were obeyed.” End quote from al-Sharh al-Mumti’ (8/10)
The rule of Jihad disobedient person
What is obligatory and what is more important is striving against oneself against disobedience, and striving against one’s enemies with money and life, but if this does not happen, then striving against the unbelievers with one’s life and wealth is greater than striving against oneself through disobedience, and striving against the unbelievers is one of the reasons for God’s guidance to him, and God grant him success, so that he abandons sin; because sins help enemies, and what causes the soul to become weak from jihad, If God favors him by abandoning disobedience, then this becomes greater in jihad, and more useful for jihad is jihad against the infidels with the Muslims, and co-operation with the Muslims - even if it is a sin, It is obligatory, so it is not a condition for the mujahid to be pious and pure, strives even if he has disobedience, He strives with his brothers with himself and his money, but if God provides him with jihad for himself in leaving sins along with jihad against the infidels; this was complete, It is obligatory upon him, so he must strive for this and that, to strive against oneself in abandoning sins, and to strive against the enemies of God with oneself, one's money, and one's pen for the jihad with the pen is a great jihad
The Prophet, peace be upon him, says
Struggle against the polytheists with your wealth, yourselves, and your tongues. Narrated by Al-Nasa’i, Ahmad and a group with an authentic chain of transmission.
The apostates from Islam
They are given the choice between returning to Islam or fighting, On the authority of Ibn Abbas, may God be pleased with them both, that the Messenger of God, may God’s prayers and peace be upon him, said: “Whoever changes his religion, kill him" Bukhari took it out.
And their punishment according to their crime, according to what the imam sees as killing, crucifying, or cutting off their hands and feet on opposite sides, or expelling them from the land, as previously, does this fall under this item (kidnapping for slavery) whether women, children or even men?
Allah says
{إِنَّمَا جَزَاءُالَّذِينَ يُحَارِبُونَ اللَّهَ وَرَسُولَهُ وَيَسْعَوْنَ فِي الْأَرْضِ فسَادًا أنْ يُقَتَّلُوا أَوْ يُصَلَّبُوا أَوْ تُقَطَّعَ أَيْدِيهِمْ وأَرْجُلُهُمْ مِنْ خِلَافٍ أَوْ يُنْفَوْا مِنَ الْأَرْضِ ذَلِكَ لَهُمْ خِزْيٌ في الدُّنْيَا وَلَهُمْ فِي الْآخِرَةِ عَذَابٌ عَظِيمٌ [33] إِلَّا الَّذِينَ تابُوا مِنْ
قَبْلِ أَنْ تَقْدِرُوا عَلَيْهِمْ فَاعْلَمُوا أَنَّ اللَّهَ غفُورٌ رَحِين [34]} [المائدة:33- 34].
{The recompense of those who wage war against God and His Messenger and strive to make mischief in the land, to be killed, or to be crucified, or to have their hands and feet cut off from opposite sides, or they will be exiled from the land, that is their disgrace in this world, and for them in the Hereafter is a grievous chastisement [33] except those who repented before you were able, against them, so know that God is Forgiving, Merciful [34]} [Al-Ma’idah: 33-34].
Those who disobeyed the Imam of the Muslims
They are the ones who rebel against the leader of the Muslims and they stir up sedition, if they return, otherwise fight them, to subdue their sedition.
God said
{وَإِنْ طَائِفَتَانِ مِنَ الْمُؤْمِنِينَ اقْتَتَلُوافَأَصْلِحُوا بَيْنَهُمَا فَإِنْ بَغَتْ إِحْدَاهُمَا عَلَى الْأُخْرَى فقَاتِلُوا الَّتِي تَبْغِي حَتَّى تَفِيءَ إِلَى أَمْرِ اللَّهِ فَإِنْ فَاءَتْ فَأَصْلِحُوا بيْنَهُمَا بِالْعَدْلِ وَأَقْسِطُوا إِنَّ اللَّهَ يُحِبُّ الْمُقْسِطِينَ [9]} لحُجُرات: 9]
{And if two groups of believers kill each other, make peace between them, if one of them transgresses against the other so, fight the oppressive woman until she fulfills God's command, If it return, make peace between them justly and be just, for God loves those who are fair [9]} Hujurat: 9]
